Prior warning: This is just me venting my worries of needing a job/experience. Nothing funny or interesting!
Does anyone know of a company, even a small one, who would consider me hireable? - for digital painting perhaps. There are so many advertisements for someone needing an artist, but on DA it's all 'draw my OC!' which is fine, but not reliable and probably not that impressive on a CV =C Especially considering you only really get commissions if they're fandom-based. I don't really aspire to be a proffessional furry artist. In the grand scale of things, the audience is quite limited in that area. XD I
have been doing commissions on ~
Taikata for years- and am still doing it, but
arrgh. Looking elsewhere online is ever so confusing, or impractical (I'd spend more money getting there, staying there and keeping myself alive than what i'd earn.) Experience matters though.
Unfortunately I dont think i'm desireable skill-wise. I'm still learning photoshop, I am still learning how to use my DSLR and i've only ever used Corel Painter right down to it's bones- and an early stage of it at that (4... it's on 11 atm.) Also due to the do-everything-by-hand method i've always used- little to no fancy brushes, no effects and stuff, I take a while to paint anything to a standard I'm happy with. (I prefer to paint this way, but time is money I guess!) I've heard that concept artists, however good painters, also need to understand 3D modelling- a topic I have only touched upon traditionally.
This is not a cue for flattery, I genuinely need help here.
I do also realise I am very badly advertised which probably doesn't help.
I think, i'd probably be more capable of doing promotional paintings for things, designs or pixel work for games.
I desperately do not want to work in a shop, although I probably can't be so picky. My tutors at uni send us work experience oppotunities in the film industry for prop making and i'm waiting for one in a convenient location to pop up, this should help my CV, but so far, I have nothing! Aaah!
